Lady Vixen and Donkey Skin

"Lady Vixen and Donkey Skin - Imaginary women from France & China", an installation by visual artist Delphine Talbot

« From the french tale Donkey Skin (Peau d' Ane) and excerpts from chinese tales dealing with the theme of Lady Vixen : two universes, two color ranges, resulting from the different shades of both furs.
The main idea of the exhibit ensues from the "colors of the time" dresses in Charles Perrault' s tale.
Both "animal-women" disappeared, one coming from the land of the Rising Sun, the other from the land of the Setting Sun, leaving their dresses behind them like chrysalises.
The first one is wearing the colors of the sun at dawn ; her shape is inspired by traditional chinese costumes.
The second is wearing the colors of dusk, in a full moon evening ; her shape is like some dancer' s clothes.
Two illustrated books of tales, called "On the traces of ...", are the witnesses of their passage. »
